AMFHR held soup kitchen at First Presbyterian church in Rahway for 150 people. They received chicken, rice, vegetables, garnola bars, and bananas. The Soup kitchen management & volunteers were grateful to AMFHR for delivering the food for their needy community.
Rosanne, the program director of Food for Friends, made an announcement to the guests & thanked AMFHR and the Muslim community for their diligence and consistent support to Food for Friends Soup kitchen.
Afterwards the AMFHR team delivered the food to the residents of Lakewood Tent City. Rev Steve received the food, clothes, and blankets in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Rev Steve mentioned that on this holiday their food donations are substantially lower and he was grateful to AMFHR & the Muslim community for the meals served in the course of a year as well as the canned food items & Bakery goods that AMFHR donated weekly throughout the year.
This Thanksgiving holiday was marked by moments for the AMFHR team. The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has left foodbank's supplies depleted and many throughout the East Coast are left homeless. In these oppressing times it is important to remember not only what you have but that the possibility of tomorrow is always bright when there is faith in your hearts. The AMFHR team understands that by working collectively we can make a better tomorrow.
A special thanks to the ICOB Academy for sponsoring the food for this event. Also a huge thanks to our dedicated volunteers who made all this possible by working relentlessly.
